Tuesday night, in a unanimous vote, the Monroe City Council elected Bishop Rodney McFarland as its chairman and Minister Verbon Muhammad as vice chairman for the 2025-26 term, marking a significant moment for the city’s leadership.
The council also honored outgoing president Mrs. Juanita Woods with a standing ovation for her dedicated service over the past year.
Bishop McFarland, president of the 28-member North Louisiana Old Line Baptist Association of Churches, and Minister Muhammad, leader of Mosque #99 of the Nation of Islam under the national leadership of Minister Louis Farrakhan, have been recognized for their harmonious collaboration alongside Mrs. Woods.
