Mayor, Chief say crime is trending down, things looking up after first year

 As the Ellis administration ends its first year in office, the mayor and his administration are making the rounds to various neighborhoods answering questions and pushing one theme: Crime is trending down and things are looking up for Monroe.

    Continuing a tradition begun by the Mayo Administration, Mayor Oliver held community meetings in Districts 1 and 4 last week. Other town-hall style district meetings are scheduled in the coming weeks.

    Mayor Ellis thanked residents for trusting his administration and ticked off a list of accomplishments made during his first year.
