Mayo, others on short list of possible 2024 mayoral candidates

With less than a year before the 2024 Monroe Mayoral campaign,  political thinkers in the Black community are gathering to field a candidate to challenge incumbent Mayor Friday Ellis.

   Ellis, who won the election with only 15 percent of the black vote, ran on a platform of erasing the line that divides blacks and whites, Northside and Southside, but generally abandoned that theme as he turned his attention to developing downtown.
