Man busted for carrying two firearms into parish courthouse

A man was jailed Monday after he attempted to enter the Ouachita Parish Courthouse carrying two firearms, ammunition, and drug scales.

Ouachita Parish sheriff’s deputies arrested Wardell C. Reynold, 21, of 4311 Spurgeon Drive, after the security scan revealed that there were two firearms and ammunition in a personal bag that he passed through the x-ray scanner. The scan also revealed that Reynolds had a set of digital scales and what appeared to be marijuana in the bag as well.

Explaining why he attempted to bring the weapons and drug equipment into the courthouse, Reynolds, who gave an address, said he was homeless and did not want to leave the guns outside the courthouse.

He was booked at Ouachita Correctional Center on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, bringing a firearm into a fire-arm-free zone. All of the offenses are misdemeanors. His bond was set at $1,250.00
