Man allegedly chokes pregnant girlfriend with an extension cord

  A man has been arrested and charged with domestic abuse battery of a pregnant victim and strangulation in which he allegedly choked his pregnant girlfriend with an extension cord, grabbed her by her hair and kicked her.

According to the official report, West Monroe Police Department received a walk-in complaint of a domestic abuse battery that occurred at 904 N. 4th Street on Saturday, January 27, 2018.

The victim stated that her boyfriend, Joshua Conerly choked her with an extension cord, threw a shoe at her face, grabbed her by her hair, and kicked her. The victim stated she could not breathe when the extension cord was around her neck. The victim stated she is four months pregnant and she lives with Conerly.

The officer observed red marks on victim’s neck and a laceration inside of victim’s lip. The officer made contact with Conerly and advised him of his Miranda rights. Conerly did not want to make a statement. The officer observed blood on Conerly’s hands and placed Conerly under arrest and transported him to the West Monroe Correctional Center for processing. Conerly was transported to Ouachita Correction Center for booking.

Conerly showed to have been previously arrested for domestic abuse battery in 2012.
