Madam C.J. Walker is considered one of the 20th century’s most successful entrepreneurs. She has the title of “ the first black woman millionaire n America” for her successful line of hair care products. She was born in Delta, Louisiana. Delta is about 72 miles from Monroe. Her parents were former slaves, and she was an orphan at the age of 7. Madam C.J. Walker said, “ I had to make my own living and my own opportunities. But I made it! Don’t sit down and wait for the opportunities to come to you. Get up and make them. There is no royal path to success. And if there is, I have not found it, for if I have accomplished anything in life, it is because I have been willing to work hard.”

Opportunities can be missed by many peoples because they may look like hard work. Do not feel discouraged if you have little in your pocket today, know that you have the opportunity and the ability to make it grow. Madam C.J. Walker also said, “My object in life is not simply to make money for myself. I love to use a part of what I make to help others.”
