Learning to trust God through it all

By Lisa Wilmore

My Dear Friends,

Life has a way of testing us in ways we never imagined. Unexpected storms come, plans fall apart, and we are left trying to make sense of it all. In these moments, we realize that we must trust God through it all.
Trusting God is not always easy, especially when the answers do not come, and the road ahead is unclear.

However, trusting Him is something we learn and implement over time. Just as babies learn to walk after stumbling, falling, and trying again, we, too, learn to trust, one step at a time. It is not instant. In fact, it is a process, and God is patient with us during this process.

Scripture reminds us in Proverbs 3:5–6 (KJV), “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” That means we are not expected to have all the answers. Actually, Scripture reminds us to not to rely on our own understanding at all. Instead, we are called to acknowledge Him in every situation and allow Him to lead the way. This kind of trust does not come when everything is going well. It is built in the middle of unanswered prayers, in financial stress, in broken relationships, in grief, and in long seasons of waiting.

Through all of this, we are invited to lean on the God and “learn how to trust Him through it all”.
Dear hearts, there will be moments when it feels like you are barely hanging on and your hope is fading. But know this: God sees you, and He has not forgotten you. You are not invisible to Him. Psalm 34:18 (NIV) tells us, “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Jesus is not a distant Savior; He is a present help. He walked this earth, experienced sorrow, cried tears, and endured pain. He understood our pain then and understands it now. Because He rose again and lives forever, He is able to walk with you through every valley, carrying you when you cannot go on your own. We must learn to trust God through it all.

So, through the confusion and heartbreak, keep trusting God. Principally, learning to trust God does not mean you have to feel strong every day. It means choosing to believe that He is strong enough for both of you. It means leaning on His promises when your understanding fails.

God is still faithful. He is still good. And He is still in control. Whatever season you are in right now, remember that He is not finished with you yet, and He can be trusted through it all.
