Sign Language is a beneficial language to know and something that all people should
take time to learn for our deaf community.
You could even help as a translator for a company or even just have conversations for fun. An example of being helpful at a company with this skill is similar to Nasa’s rover that landed on the moon and had a video that many tuned in to watch. It wasn’t just the Nasa employees in that video though, if you saw the left or right screen younotice there was a man translating everything they were saying with his hands. He was translating/relaying everything to the deaf community. Cops sometimes have to call a translator when they have a witness that doesn’t speak or hear what their questions and concerns are.
Because sign language is such a necessary thing, there are classes you can take on YouTube for free. There’s a video by a channel named “TakeLessons” with a woman named Victoria who will help you learn twenty plus basic sign language phrases for beginners. There’s a channel named “Learn How to Sign” that will show you twenty-five ASL signs that you need to know. And for those of you who may not know, there are indeed different languages of sign just like there’s English, Spanish, and Korean languages.
There are different signs as well. ASL stands for American Sign Language which is the sign you may see here in our country. For anyone who may possibly want to learn British Sign Language which is also known as BSL can visit a channel named “Commanding Hands”. If anyone wants to learn FSL which means Filipino Sign Language you can go to a creator on Youtube named Nicole Joy Linsangan. There’s Aguilia Tutorial Videos who will break the FSL down for you.
For anyone who may take lessons on how to speak Russian and want to learn their sign language too, there’s a woman who will give you lessons in RSL with the channel name of “RSLIntro”. There’s also a funny woman by the name of Madi Patterson who will help you with RSL as well. If you all wish to see something really cool there is a channel named “WakeWolf” and one of their famous videos is Denmark, British, American, and German Sign Language by Deaf Furs. It is a group of men that speak different languages of sign language, and each of them tell you what a word means in their country’s sign language which has to be the coolest thing ever since there aren’t as many videos like that on YouTube.
Spanish Sign Language is something you can learn from the creator Anissa who teaches both the Spanish and American sign language. There’s a man by the name of Ta Rudz who also gives many lessons on Spanish Sign with his channel.
There’s Japanese Sign Language as well and of course each sign language has a different meaning. You can learn Japanese Sign with the help of a channel named “DeafJapan TV”. There’s a man with the name of MakiFafael who will also teach you the beginners sign and even some of the more advanced words. Sign Language is a beneficial and fun thing to know.
There are plenty of people willing to teach it on YouTube, there’s a few apps that teach it such as: Babble, Lingvano, and Marlee Signs. I’m more than positive there’s probably someone on TikTok who teaches as well since it’s one of the most popular apps these days.
