Lauren MaryAnn Ballard of Monroe was recently elected Miss Sophomore at Jackson State University in Jackson, Miss. for the 2023-2024 academic school year. Her campaign platform was, “L.O.C.K. IN with Lauren”, meaning Leveling Up Ourselves and Campus while answering the Knock to the door of endless opportunities. Lauren is majoring in Political Science with a concentration in Legal Studies. She was also inducted into the Beta Xi Chapter of Lambda Sigma Honor Society, and is a member of the JSU Blue Ambassadors and JSU InterVarsity Christian Studies Group.
Lauren is a 2022 honors graduate of Ouachita Parish High School. She is the daughter of Courtney Lewis and L. Cartez Ballard, the granddaughter of Jan Lewis and Carrie Ballard and is a member of the True Vine Baptist Church in Monroe, where the Rev. Stonewall Hunter Jr. is pastor.
