5th Grade Honor Student
Hello friends, last week, the joke was, “How do you throw a party in outer space?” The answer is you planet.
Now that we have discussed the weekly joke business, It is time to get into the good stuff. This week I’ll review a BTG great student, Blade Roquemore, The Black Tie Guys trip, Easter reflection, and a few thoughts about planet Earth.
Blade Roquemore

Meet Blade Roquemore. Blade Roquemore was born on June 18, 2014, he is a young, energetic fourth-grader at Roy Neal Shelling Sr. Elementary School, where he has shown potential in both academics and extracurricular activities. He is being raised by his parents, Justice Welch and Christopher Roquemore. He enjoys football, basketball and playing video games. He plans to graduate with the 2032 class of Carroll High School.
Black Tie Guys Trip
Last week, the Black Tie Guys traveled to seven colleges in four days: ULL, Louisiana Tech, Dillard, Southern, Tulane, Grambling, and LSU.
I enjoyed them all. ULL is located in Lafayette. Their campus caught our attention because it had a small swamp that contained alligators, fish, and turtles.
Louisiana Tech had access to many things, such as their football games. At LA Tech, you are considered family, so if you are too far away from home, some local people might even welcome you to come to their house.
Dillard had a beautiful campus. It’s in the top 50 most beautiful university campuses. Their primary mission is to cultivate leaders.
Now, for Southern University, we were attracted to its band, famously known as the number one best-dressed band. Their law school is rated as one of the top 20.
The next one I will be discussing is Tulane. Tulane and Dillard have something in common: both universities are private schools. Due to it being a private school, fewer people are in each class, so you can easily connect with other students and professors. They cost more too; Tulane’s tuition is $86,000 a year and Dilliard’s is $31,000 a year.
Grambling is an HBCU that has a lot of culture. We toured GSU buildings and worked out in its weight room.
Last but not least is LSU. LSU has a vast campus that is basically like its own city. In fact, it’s so big that there are buses and scooters to get around campus. It was really big.
I’m a straight A student. I plan to go to college, and visiting these seven universities gave me something to think about.
Easter is passed
Easter is over, and there were many kids who participated in everything from Easter Egg Hunts, to saying speeches at church. Many schools had this celebration; kindergarteners and Pre-K students at my school did as well. Easter was colorful, but the real reason for Easter is the resurrection of Jesus.
Ever seen a Zokor?
As you know, we live on planet Earth, and there are many good things about Earth, but I would like to tell you about its inhabitants. Instead of telling you about the common ones, I will tell you about the ones you might haven’t heard of. Like the Zokor, you might have yet to hear of them, so I will explain what they are. The zokor are rodents and are very similar to mole rats. You might get the two confused if you see one. However, that would be rare, considering they are native to China, Russia, and Kazakhstan.
Well, I think that’s all for this week. See you next week!
