Judge Lehy issues house arrest sentence for repeat hit and run driver

A Monroe man has been sentenced to house arrest in connection with the 2019 hit-and-run death of a local teenage skateboarder.

Daniel Lynn Ross Jr., 51, was sentenced to four years of house arrest after pleading guilty to charges stemming from an October 2019 incident in which he struck and killed 15-year-old Ashley Dorsey.

The Neville High School sophomore was skateboarding along Park Avenue near Eason Place when she was hit by Ross’s white Chevy Equinox.

Following the sentencing hearing, Judge Scott Leehy, who presided over the case, described it as “the most difficult case of his career.”
