Ice Hockey is back in Monroe!
In a press conference held Wednesday at the Monroe Civic Center arena, Mayor Friday Ellis announced plans to revive the city’s semi-professional hockey team, the Monroe Moccasins. The mayor introduced the principals who will work with the city to make hockey a successful venture in Monroe once again.
The Moccasins, which previously played from 1997 to 2001, will begin a 56-game season in October, with 28 home games to be held at the Civic Center arena. Season tickets are now available for purchase at $318 each. Mayor Ellis emphasized the potential economic benefits the team could bring to the city, with fans patronizing local restaurants and hotels.
