Dear Hearts,
There are things that come across the table of life that bleeds your heart and draw tears from your eyes. In fact, even worry clouds your mind and stress becomes the oppressor of your emotions. You start the day with excitement and happiness filled with the newness of fresh beginnings only to have the rug pulled from under you with one thing or another. At that given point you must decide if you would continue in this downward spiral or declare to our Father which is in heaven, “I’ll trust you, Lord.” Ultimately, letting Him know that we will trust Him, affirm to Him that we cannot handle it, nor can we do anything about it; therefore, we must put our trust in the only One who can.
In one of the African American Hymns, we find a personal lecture that helps us during dark days which is titled, “I will trust in the Lord until I die.” As this song has been ‘lifted up’ by many, various ones have hung their hearts and minds, on additional lyrics such as “I’m going to watch fight and pray; and “I’m going to stay on my bended knees until I die.” As believers this must be our personal testimony, also. Our trust must be in the Lord, our rock and salvation. He is in control of it all. He orchestrates the good, bad and the ugly in our lives. Paul reminds us that “And we know that all things work together for the good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28 KJV).
Interestingly, Isaiah, in the Word of God, affirms that believers must trust in the Lord forever. He pointed out that “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the Lord forever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength” (Isaiah 26:3-4). Disappointments, distresses, and strife cannot be avoided in our lives or around us, but Isaiah assures us that God will keep us in perfect peace when our minds are stayed on Him. When you find yourself going in the direction of fear, worry or burden, just say, “I’ll trust you, Lord.”
It is essential that as we go through life’s battles we must lean on God. Soloman, the writer of Proverbs noted, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord and depart from evil (Prov. 3:5-7 KJV). To God be the glory!
