Honoring the Life of Lorenzo Washington, Sr.

Lorenzo Diangelo Washington, Sr., 59, passed away on June 29, 2026, in Chicago, Il. He was born on May 25, 1967, in Monroe, LA, to Jewel Honeycutt, Jr. and Gracie Johnson. He was later adopted by George Washington, Jr., who reared him.


Lorenzo was a 1985 graduate of Carroll High School. He is a retired veteran of the United States Air Force and the BNSF Railway Company. He also was a licensed barber, DJ, and tailor.


Lorenzo leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Tonya Hill Washington, Chicago, IL; his mother, Gracie Johnson Washington, Monroe, LA; his son, Lorenzo “Poncho” Washington, Jr., Atlanta, GA; his daughter, Jaqueda, Chicago, IL; his grandchildren, Khai Lorenz Washington, Atlanta, GA; Lorai Washington, MD; Nova Sky Washington, TX; and Cherish, Chicago, IL; one god brother, Tommy Neal Reynolds, Jr., St. Paul, MN; two sisters, LaKeitha Honeycutt, NJ; and Daphne Allen, Monroe, LA; six uncles, Johnny and Bobby Dangerfield, Kalamazoo, MI; Freddie Johnson, Tracy, CA; Dennis McCormick, Monroe, LA; Donald Honeycutt and Roderick Honeycutt (Sandra), CA; ten aunts, Rosie Allen, Bennye Johnson Thagard (Randy), Lenevia Johnson, TX; Fannie (David), NJ; Marilyn Honeycutt, Monroe, LA; Frankie Honeycutt, TX; Linda Honeycutt, CA; Jacqueline Broadnax Hardy (Jessie), Dana Staten Clark (Hardy), Monroe, LA, and Shirley Washington, Monroe, LA; one niece, Courtney Nicole Sumbler, Arcadia, FL; one nephew, Corey Damien Evans, TX; and a host of other cousins and friends.


A celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at Riverside Baptist Church, 2601 Powell Avenue, Monroe, LA, Rev. Oliver W. Billups, Jr., officiant. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Miller’s Funeral Home, Monroe, LA, from 1:00 – 6:00 PM.
