Graveside services set for “Butch Washington”

Graveside services will be held Saturday, December 5th for a well known Monroe Man affectionately known as “Butch” Washington.

The graveside services for Roy Neal Washington will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the Richwood Memorial Gardens.

His services are being handled by McFarland Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

His official obituary reads as follows:

Bro. Roy Neal Washington, who was fondly called Butch by many friends, was born May 4, 1950, in Monroe, Louisiana, to the late George Washington, Sr., and Gladys Harris Washington. He was the third of four children.  He attended Carroll High school.  He was a hard worker for O’Neal Steel for many years.  Roy was a kind-hearted man that gave from his heart to those in need. He is preceded in death by his sister, Virtice Washington, and his brother, George Washington Jr.

Roy Neal Washington departed this life on November 28, 2020, at St. Francis Medical Center.

He leaves to cherish his memory: two sisters, Shirley Washington, and Shirley James Walker both of Monroe, La. Three sons, Anthony O. Whitfield (Nicole), Roy L. Whitfield, and Kevin L. Honeycutt all of Monroe, La. Two nephews, Johnny Washington, and Lorenzo Washington (Tonya) Bloomingdale, Illinois. One sister by love, Inez Walker, two sisters-in-law, Gracie Washington and Verbarlyn Washington. Eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
