Graveside services will be held next week for a city employee who died recently from complications associated with COVID-19.
Brenda Addison, a 23-year employee of the City of Monroe died last week after contracting COVID mixed with several other pre-existing underlying health issues.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at the Magnolia Cemetery on Desiard Street. Social Distancing rules will apply.
City co-workers have covered her chair at the city utility office with a black ribbon.

Brenda Elaine Addison was born to Luke Addison, Sr. and Lillie Pierce Addison in Ouachita Parish, Monroe, LA on September 26, 1953.
She was baptized at an early age and became a member of The New Tabernacle Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev P. C. Keal and in 1977 under the leadership of Pastor Roosevelt Wright, Jr.
She was a Sunday school teacher, attended church services regularly, and assisted the elderly and those in need whenever she could.
She attended Carroll High School and graduated from Neville High School in 1971. She attended and graduated from Northeast Louisiana University (now University of Louisiana – Monroe) in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work.
She worked for Bell South (AT&T) as a Telephone Operator from 1973 to 1996. She worked for the City of Monroe as a Utility Customer Service Representative from 1998 until her death.
She leaves to cherish her life and honor her memory and love for family: one child, Derek Addison (Daphne), Monroe, LA; two grandchildren, DeAntony Stringfellow, Arlington, TX and Angel Stringfellow, Augusta, GA; three brothers, Ronald Wayne Addison, Monroe, LA, Luke Addison, Jr. (Sheila), San Francisco, CA, and Robert Lee Addison, Winnetka, CA; three sisters, Dorothy Ware, Long Beach, CA, Willie Mae Bradley (Harvey), Antioch, CA; and Arnetta Addison, Hayward, CA; god sister, Beverly Sims, Monroe, LA; godbrother, John Frederick Smith, Baton Rouge, LA; Godson Y’wante James Irving, Texas, Goddaughter Skylar Singleton and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
