A recall petition against Monroe Mayor Oliver Friday Ellis has been approved by Governor John Bel Edwards, as organizers accuse the mayor of neglecting African-Americans.
The recall petition, filed last week, was approved by the governor and is being headed by two Southside residents: Jackie Kidd and Eugene Payne, both listed as recall chairs.
