To the saints of God,
Please allow me a moment to bless God for His grace and mercy. After traveling from place to place, day after day, I am thankful for His compassion and kindness shown toward me. Not only has He been merciful to me, but to my family, also. Truly, I honor Him for His magnificent power which keeps us from hurt, harm, and danger, as we travel from one destination to the other. My prayer is that God continues to bless you. In addition, I pray that this week’s message encourages your continued “upright” walk with Christ as it has encouraged me.
Interestingly, each week, the Holy Spirit gives me messages for this publication as well as daily devotions. I never know what message to deliver until I have encountered a certain moment or observation which causes deep “heart understanding” rather than “head understanding”. In other words, the Holy Spirit illuminates (brightens) the spiritual aspect of the moment whereas the head can only give the knowledge or information of that moment. Therefore, the moment I would like to make mention of, happened while I was getting my hair washed in my cousin’s beauty salon.
After my cousin washed my hair, she began to prepare another client’s hair to be washed. As I sat under the dryer, they were very quiet. One would ask questions and the other would answer with short responses. Because of my engagement in reading, I haphazardly gave attention to their conversation. However, one could observe that they were very conservative with the wording of their conversation. Jokingly, my cousin finally asked her client, “Why are you so quiet? Usually, you are using all kind of words.” She further said, “Don’t be quiet because Ms. Lisa is in here.” I looked at the young lady and smiled.” Of course, she gave me a somewhat embarrassed smile and answered my cousin saying, “I cannot talk like that. Ms. Lisa is a Christian and I have to give her respect.” At that moment, God allowed me to minister to them and remind them that I am not perfect, but we have access to a perfect God. He is the one who sustains and keeps us from the world’s way.
Christian believers, Jesus teaches us that we are the “Light of the world”. He also imparts to us, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).
I know, without a doubt, it is Christ who lives in me which silenced the conversation on that day. Give Him the glory! “Does your presence silence worldly conversations?”
