There is a simple lesson in life that can be explained with something most of us have experienced with a car: a dead battery
When your car battery dies, you usually need a jump. Someone pulls up with jumper cables, connects their battery to yours, and the power from their battery helps bring yours back to life. But here’s the key point – a dead battery can’t jump another dead battery. It takes a battery that still has power to bring another one back to life.
That same principle applies to life.
Many people today are trying to stay motivated, hopeful, and focused while surrounding themselves with people who have no energy, no vision, and no encouragement to give. Then they wonder why they began to feel drained.
The truth is simple: dead batteries can’t give jumps.
If someone constantly complains, constantly doubts, and constantly speaks negatively about everything, it becomes difficult for them to help recharge your motivation. In fact, if you stay around that thinking too long, it may begin to drain your own confidence.
Life is challenging enough without adding unnecessary negativity.
That’s why it is important to be intentional about the people you allow in your circle. The people around you should not only share your space; they should also help strengthen your spirit.
We all need people who can give us a “jump start” when life gets tough.
There will be days when your motivation is low. There will be moments when your plans don’t work out the way you hoped. There will be seasons when disappointment tries to creep into your mind. During those times, the right voices around you can make all the difference.
Encouraging people reminds you of your strength when you feel weak. Positive thinkers remind you that better days are still ahead. Visionary people challenge you to keep moving forward, even when progress feels slow. They are thinkers, builders, dreamers, and encouragers. They are the ones who believe tomorrow can be better than today. They don’t just talk about problems; they look for solutions.
Their energy helps recharge your energy.
This doesn’t mean we abandon people who are struggling, because everyone faces difficult seasons. But it does mean we must be wise enough to stay connected to people who build us up rather than constantly tear us down.
Your environment influences your attitude more than you may realize.
If you want to grow, surround yourself with people who believe in growth. If you want to stay motivated, stay connected to people who bring positive energy into the room.
Dead batteries can’t give jumps.
Stay connected to people whose batteries are charged with faith, encouragement, and determination.
Those are the people who will help keep you running strong.
