Mackie Freeze, renowned as one of the greatest high school coaches in Northeast Louisiana (NELA) history, passed away on January 19, 2024, at the age of 96. A legendary figure in the sports community, Freeze’s impact on high school football and his players’ lives was profound and lasting.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the New St. James Baptist Church. Visitation will be Friday, January 26, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m. at St. Timothy Baptist Church, 1710 Canary Street, Monroe, La.
