Employees of the City of Monroe have pitched in to purchase and assemble personal hygiene kits that will be distributed to the homeless this month.
According to Public Works Director Tom Janway, city employees chipped in and donated over $1,400 for the Hygiene Kits for the Homeless and Needy. The activity is led by the Public Works Department.
The donations from city workers will purchase supplies for 400 personal hygiene kits for the Homeless and less fortunate within our community. They will be donated to the local Salvation Army and to the Monroe City School Board for needy students.
The kits will include the following items:
- Individually wrapped toothbrush
- Toothpaste
- Travel size bars of soap
- Travel size shampoo
- Travel size conditioner
- Deodorant
- Razor
- Face Towel
- Pair of socks
- Women’s personal hygiene items
- Snacks
