Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,…(Psalm 103).
My Dear Friends,
When challenges arise in the lives of people, there may be neighbors, Christians, and friends who come to their rescue and aid them in their distresses. They exhibit acts of kindness and share whatever resources they may have in order to provide some relief during their time of need.
Additionally, when a loved one transition from this life to another, people from all walks of life show up and provide food, kind words, and/or a hugs to let the family know that they sympathize with them and they are in prayer for their strength. In like manner, our Father’s hand extends to us His lovingkindness and His unfailing love for us.
When it comes to providing for His children, God extends His unwavering lovingkindness and steadfast love to provide for us. Scriptures remind us that God’s lovingkindness or unfailing kindness saves us from our enemies and deliver us from our troubles. The prophet Jeremiah predicts the fall of Jerusalem-the Israelites-God’s Chosen but shares with them the Lord’s kindness which is motivated by deep and everlasting love. Jeremiah stated in God’s Word, “The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. He lets them know that God will build them up again and they will be able to dance, be joyful, and plant once again. (Jeremiah 31).
How many times have you fallen short of God’s glory, yet He reached toward you with His lovingkindness-His unfailing love? During and after storms in our lives, God’s tender heart is stretched toward the ones He loves. David, the Psalmist, reminds us that God reaches beyond sparing us from sin, disease, or trouble, but crown us with His unfailing love and mercy. Even when we do not adhere to His warnings in our lives, like the Israelites, He still conveys to us that His lovingkindness and tender mercies will not fail. Thank You, God for Your benefit of unfailing lovingkindness!
Let us pray: Lord, Thank You for Your lovingkindness and tender mercies. Thank You for looking beyond our faults and seeing our needs. Forgive us, Lord, for disappointing You. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.
