Be someone who makes everybody feel like somebody

By Rusty Potter

Mark Twain said, “Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.” Be a man or woman who makes a difference in the lives of others. People will see you as a difference-maker. We rise by lifting others.

Surround yourself this school year with people who are going to lift you higher in life. They should encourage you to move to a higher level in life. Proverbs 13:20 says, “He that walketh with wise men shall be wise.” Surround yourself with people that can teach you lessons. As a child, my niece (Wanda Lowe) loved to work in the kitchen with her mother and her grandmothers. She learned old recipes and cooking skills. Today, she has written a cookbook called “Momma Lowe’s Flava”.

Your friends should have the ability to help you to accomplish your goals and dreams in life. Great people make you feel that you too can be great. Make a conscious effort to surround yourself with positive uplifting people. We should have friends that make us better. Remember, speak words that make others feel like somebody.
