The funeral service for Florence Robinson will be held Saturday, April 27, 2019, at 11:00 A.M., at Greater Free Gift Missionary Baptist Church, 5510 Highway 165 Bypass, Monroe, Louisiana, Bishop Rodney McFarland, Senior Pastor.

Mother Florence Marie Robinson was born on September 4, 1941, to the late Florence and Bertha Menyweathers in West Ouachita Parish. She lived a life full of love until her departure on Maunday Thursday, April 18, 2019. This Christian holy day marks the Washing of the Feet and Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the apostles (the 5th day of Holy Week).
Mother Florence was baptized at the age of eight as a member of the Gaines Chapel Missionary Baptist Church by Reverend Jackson. She remained an active member who could readily tell you the history of the church for one of the founders was her grandfather, Gilson Menyweathers. As an active member, Mother Florence worked as a Sunday school teacher, choir member, youth and program director and Mother.
Florence Marie was loved by all her family and friends for her caring and loving ways. As a mother and grandmother, she would always give her time and love and unselfishly. She was affectionately adored by all of her nieces and nephews. Florence Marie was known for her skilled cooking and sewing by her friends, family, and neighbors. She would spend time taking care of the sick and making donations to the needy. She would spend many fun hours playing games/pranks and completing puzzles.
Florence Marie attended Swayze Elementary and Carroll High School where she met and eventually married the father of her six children: Shelia Robinson, Daphne Ellis (James), Bridgett Robinson, Lokeyi Haley Alston (Todd), Johnny Robinson, Jr., Sarah Spencer (Marcus), and Ebony Monique Jackson (goddaughter). She has 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was the youngest of five children. She was proceeded in death by her loving parents, Florence and Bertha and two brothers Gilson (Henrietta) and Ennis Menyweathers and two sisters Erma Williams (Jesse) and Ernestine Maxwell (Elgin Sr.). She will be missed by her sister-in-law, Annie Menyweathers and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
