The Wossman High School Class of 1973 is pleased to announce the 2017 recipients of the WHS C’73 annual academic scholarship: Miss Sally Causey, a 2017 graduate of Wossman High School; and Miss De’Eddria Mone’ Toliver, a 2017 graduate of Richwood High School.
Sally, who is the daughter of Ms. Sharol Causey, plans to attend LSU at Alexandria, LA with a planned major of biology/pre-med. De’Eddria, the daughter of Ms. Paula Greely and Mr. De’Edrick Toliver, is also the granddaughter of the late Stephen Toliver, a WHS class of 1972 graduate, and Debra Traylor-Toliver, an active member of the WHS Class of 1973. De’Eddria plans to attend Grambling State University with a major in biology. The recipients’ hard work, dedication to education, and compassion to give back within their community were deciding factors in their selection as the scholarship recipients.
The official presentation of the $500.00 award plaque was made to Sally during the WHS Senior Awards Program held on Monday, May 8, 2017, in the WHS auditorium. De”Eddria was presented her award on Sunday, June 11, 2017, at the St. Mary Baptist Church graduates’ recognition program.
Class President Alvin Ford and the active participants in the WHS Class of 1973 congratulate both recipients on their accomplishments thus far and wish them well as they matriculate in college. This is the second year that the WHS Class of 1973 has awarded the scholarship, which is presented to a worthy WHS graduate, a family member of the active Class of 1973 group, or both. Respectfully submitted by Rose Young Lee, WHS C’73 Scholarship Committee Chairperson.
