Willson says Sheriff won’t help city schools with deputy costs

There are school resources officers in city high schools this year, but the parish sheriff’s office was criticized last week for not pitching in to help.

City School Board President Bill Willson spoke at a community forum last week, sponsored by the Southside Improvement Organization at the Emily P. Robinson Center.

He said the district has recently signed an agreement with the City of Monroe to hire three student resource officers full time for each high school.
