The Stuff the Truck Toy Drive will be held November 1, 2018 through December 14, 2018. It is one of the November City Employee Community Benevolent Acts. The public is welcome to contribute toys toward this benevolent effort. This year, the Stuff the Truck Toy Drive will require pre-registration in order to get toys. If you know of a family that is need, please refer them to us. The pre-registration site will be the City of Monroe Public Safety Center (Fire Administration side) located at 1810 Martin Luther King Drive (U.S. 165 South) during the hours of 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday thru Friday. The deadline to register will be 4 pm Friday, December 14, 2018.

Ever dreamed of becoming a Master Gardener? Now is your chance. The LSU AgCenter is accepting applications for the next Northwest Louisiana Master Gardeners class, scheduled for January through March. Membership is open to all adults in Northwest Louisiana. Master Gardeners are the volunteer arm of the LSU AgCenter. They are trained in horticulture in exchange for 40 hours of volunteer service, sharing what they have learned with other gardeners. Classes will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Thursday for 10 weeks. Attendance at all classes is required for certification. There is a registration fee, which covers the cost of training manuals, publications and supplies for the class. Class size is limited, and the registration deadline is December 7, 2018.
