Sylvia Brass retires as Minnie Ruffin Principal

Veteran educator Sylvia Edwards Brass will be retiring from education at the end of the school year.
Brass will close out a stellar career in education that spanned decades as a classroom teacher and principal.
She is presently principal of the Minnie Ruffin Elementary School.
She became the principal of Minnie Ruffin in 2003 after the retirement of Andrew Hill.
As principal, she garnered a reputation for being a mother figure for hundreds of students who passed through the school’s doors in her 17 years as principal.
She is the wife of the Reverend Van Brass of Monroe and the mother of three children.
