Stock market simulation earns big dollars for Black Tie Guys

In a remarkable display of financial savvy, Julius Brown, a sixth grader, earned over $1,600 in simulated stock market gains during the month of September. “I sold my low-performing shares and invested in the Dow Jones,” Brown explained, detailing how his virtual $10,000 portfolio grew by $1,652 in just one month.

Brown, along with 25 other boys, participated in the “Black Tie Guys” male mentoring program, which teaches financial literacy and stock market fundamentals. Though the participants didn’t use real money, they simulated daily buying and selling on the New York Stock Exchange, allowing them to learn by experience.
