Funeral services for a Monroe man who died Sunday will be held Saturday.
Service for Marcus Washington will be held Saturday, January 25, 2020, at 11 a.m. at the New Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Marcus Orlando Washington was the son WillieFuller Washington and Carolyn Jean Webb Washington. He was born on April 12, 1970 in Monroe, La.
He went to elementary and high school in the Richland Parish School System. He graduated from Rayville High School.
He was baptized in the Rankin ChapelA.M.E. Church in Rayville in 1977.
In 2003, he married Tammie Hood in Dallas, Texas.
He was an accomplished cross country trucker. In Monroe, he drove for the Ready-Mix Company for several years.
He was jovial and a fun-loving personality. He loved children and often helped family members with their children. When members of the family were ill, he often did what he could to help care for them.
In his spare time, he enjoyed playing dominoes and a good game of pool.
He was a student of the Bible who enjoyed worship and Studying the Word of God. He was also a man of faith who tried to live the Christian life to the best of his ability.
In 2006, he began attending the Tabernacle Baptist Church. He became a daily prayer warrior for Pastor Wright, calling him daily to pray that he would have strength and faith. Even if he was out of state, he regularly called the pastor with a short prayer.
In 2018, his health began to fail and as often as he could he attended worship at Tabernacle and sat on the last seat but his Amen could be heard on the front seat.
On January 19, 2020, he was called home to glory.
His survivors include his wife,Tammie Hood (Dallas, Tx); one son, Marcus Washington, Jr. (Dallas, Tx); one daughter, Victoria Island (Rayville, La). Four grandchildren; two sisters:Lucille D. Washington (West Monroe), Shonda Washington (West Monroe, La.) three brothers: Carl Washington (Dallas), Cedric Washington (Houston, Tx) Linonel Washington (West Monroe) and a host of nieces, nephews and great-nephews and great-nieces, family and friends.
