SEDD Mini-Grant recipients mobilizing for safe, drug free neighborhoods

In a pioneering effort to revitalize South Monroe, the Southside Economic Development District (SEDD) has awarded ten $2,000 mini-grants to local organizations, igniting a wave of community-driven initiatives aimed at combating crime, beautifying neighborhoods, and promoting safer communities.

“The idea is to eventually motivate hundreds of civic groups, clubs and churches to take the first steps toward reclaiming their community,” said Roosevelt Wright, Jr., chairman of the SEDD Safe Neighborhood and Crime Reduction committee. Wright explained that these one-time grants are designed to “prime the pump,” with more components of the “Southside Dream” expected to begin as additional funding is provided by the City.
