Hi everyone! This week, we have some exciting stories to share with you. Let’s dive in!

De’Carrion Smith

First up, we have  De’Carrion Smith, a fantastic 9th grader at Richwood High School. De’Carrion was born on May 23, to his amazing mom, Shemeka Smith. He’s got a real talent for sports, especially basketball, track, and football. These activities have not only helped him maintain an active lifestyle but have also taught him valuable lessons in teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship. Keep an eye out for this rising star!

Now, let’s talk about awards. Did you know that you can earn prizes for your hard work in school? One example is the A.R. award, which you can get by reading a book and answering questions about it. It’s that time of year when students start receiving awards for completing another school year. What kind of awards do you think you’ll get?

Moving on to some exciting events – there was a fantastic piano recital at the Ouachita Parish Library on Saturday, May 18. Lots of people played different songs, and there was even a singer who performed with the piano teacher, Mr. Einsly. Over a hundred people came to watch the amazing performers! I was one of the participants; I played a piano solo.

Lastly, let’s discuss the difference between a need and a want. A need is something that’s absolutely necessary for living, like food, water, and shelter. A want, on the other hand, is something that might make your life better but isn’t essential for survival. For example, if you already have a pair of shoes that fit well, you don’t really need those cool new Jordans – they might be more comfortable, but they’re not a must-have.

Well, that’s all for this week, folks! I hope you enjoyed reading these stories as much as I enjoyed sharing them with you. Until next time, have a wonderful week!
