Derrick A. Green, age 41, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 21, 2020, at his home. Derrick was born on September 30, 1977, in Monroe, Louisiana, to Howard Green and Dixie Green Smith. He attended West Monroe High School and worked for Taco Bell for 21 years. Derrick was a loving, kind and humble spirit. He was known for his wonderful sense of humor and his contagious laughter among family and friends.
Derrick is preceded in death by his father, Howard Green. He is survived by his devoted stepfather (Roy Smith), loving mother (Dixie Smith), one brother and best friend (Alonzo Green), one sister (Matasha Green), a very close and dear nephew (Andre’ Marquis Green) and several uncles, aunts, nieces, other nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 1-6 p.m., on Friday, March 6, 2020, at Smith Funeral Home located at 907 Winnsboro Rd, Monroe, LA 71202. Flowers and/or donations are welcomed.
A homegoing celebration of Derrick’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, March 7, 2020, at the Philadelphia Word Church, 115 Arnold Drive, Monroe, LA 71202, with Rev. Alfred Mack officiating. Interment will follow at Richwood Memorial Gardens, 2705 Richwood Rd 2, Monroe, LA 71202, under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
