“Jeff” the flower man of Monroe will have flowers laid for his funeral service on Saturday, July 8, 2017. Robert “Jeff” Jefferson died on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at the age of 84.
Jefferson, a native of Richland Parish, was a former basketball coach and teacher at Rhymes High School in Alto, Louisiana. He later moved to Monroe and in the early 1980s began a small business selling flowers and floral arrangements. He operated out of a shop on Sycamore Street for many years and moved his shop to the present location on Winnsboro Road on Monroe’s Southside.
If you’ve attended a funeral, wedding, special church program or social event, you have probably seen floral arrangements provided by Jefferson.
Services for Jefferson will be held at St. Joe Baptist Church of Alto, LA at 11:00 AM. Viewing and visitation will be held at McFarland Funeral Home from 2-6PM Friday, July 7 and the wake service will be held at Greater Free Gift Missionary Baptist Church, 5510 US Hwy 165 S Monroe from 7PM until.
