Dunn Casket factory is little known Black History achievement in Monroe

Over 70 years ago a man and his family developed a unique business model in Monroe; he made caskets!

His name was Maiceo Dunn, who was a pioneer businessman in Monroe, who created a product that serviced funeral parlors throughout Northeast Louisiana as needed.

Dunn, a local carpenter, maintained his family through his carpentry skills. He added rooms to existing houses, constructed pews for churches, built new houses for residents, and even built a few Black churches.
