Rev. Ambrose Douzart, President of the Ouachita/Monroe Chapter of the NAACP, has announced his resignation effective September 30, 2024, concluding eight years of leadership amid a mix of accomplishments and recent controversy.
In a heartfelt letter addressed to chapter members, Rev. Douzart reflected on his tenure and decision to step down. “It is with a heavy heart that I write to inform you of my decision to resign,” Douzart stated, emphasizing that the choice “has not come easily, but I believe it is the right time for me to step down and allow new leadership to guide our chapter forward.”

Throughout his letter, Douzart highlighted the chapter’s achievements under his leadership. “I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together,” he wrote, citing successful community outreach programs and advocacy efforts that have “made significant strides in promoting justice and equality in Monroe and beyond.”
