Funeral services for veteran educator Betty T. Broussard are pending after her death Monday in New Iberia.
Broussard, 82, was a retired educator who taught for several decades in the Monroe City School System. She died Monday, June 21, 2021, in the Iberia Medical Center.
Known as an “icon” at Carroll High School, Broussard taught Physical Education, coached the girl’s basketball team as well as served as a cheerleader coordinator.
She was known for her teamwork attitude and ability to connect with students.
A devout Catholic, she was a member of the Little Flower of Jesus Catholic Church in Monroe, where many were surprised to see that she served as a church usher, and even helped clean up, mop floors, and other services that helped make the church facility conducive to worship.
