Carver Library founders praised at 70th birthday

The Carver/McDonald Branch Library of the Ouachita Parish Library paid special tribute to its founders with a 70th birthday celebration on February 1st.

The program featured reflections on the history of the library and projections about its future from various presenters.

Participating on the program were: Robin Toms, welcome; Reverend John L. Russell, Sr., invocation; Dr. Ollibeth Reddix, Mayor Jamie Mayo, and Albertine Collins, remarks.

A special presentation was made by Dilcie McDonald Green and Donna McDonald Hall. They are the daughters of Mrs. Odalie McDonald, the first librarian of the branch 70 years ago.

Rev. Robert Allen Tanzy, Sr. gave comments and the benediction. He was the former branch manager of the Carver-McDonald Branch.

Joyce Powell, branch manager, thanked the McDonald family and program participants and she expressed hopes for an even brighter future for the branch.
