The Ouachita Parish NAACP thinks the city’s “crackdown” on crime and violence unfairly singles out the black community, while ignoring crime in other parts of the city.
In a prepared release, NAACP president Ambrose Douzart said the civil rights organization is concerned that the city’s new focus on crime gives the implication that all of Monroe’s crime is in South Monroe and is resulting in a cold reception by those in the law-abiding community.
