Worship or worms, the choice is yours!

By Lisa Wilmore

Scripture Reading: “As the new heavens and the new earth that I make will endure before me,” declares the Lord, “so will your name and descendants endure. From one New Moon to another and from one Sabbath to another, all mankind will come and bow down before me,” says the Lord. “And they will go out and look on the dead bodies of those who rebelled against me; the worms that eat them will not die, the fire that burns them will not be quenched (reduced), and they will be loathsome (disgusting) to all mankind” (Isaiah 66:23-24).

Greetings!

When I was a principal in the Monroe City School System, each morning at the end of announcements, the students along with the faculty would recite together, “Make it a great day or not the choice is yours.” Interestingly, everyone resounded this statement but understood that if the day was going to be a positive day for each individual, it was the individuals’ choice. Even I had to decide that no matter what challenges were presented or what tasks were before me, it was my choice to make it a great day or not. By the same token, it is our choice to live eternally with Jesus and be among the believers who will bow down before Him and worship Him or among the ones who will be eaten by worms and a fire that will not be quenched. In simplicity, “Worship or Worms, the choice is yours!”

God has graciously given us the choice to decide whether we want to live eternally with Him or eternally in hell-with the final destination, the lake of fire. The Apostle John penned, “And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night forever and ever . . . And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:10, 14-15, KJV).

In our aforementioned text, Isaiah brings his book to a close and shares His prophecy of what will happen to those who choose to obey and follow Him while sharing what will happen to those who make the choice to continue in sin absent of Jesus Christ. Eventually, all mankind will come and bow down before Christ. Absent of Christ, worms will eat unbelievers and they will not die. Worship or Worms, the choice is yours!

My brothers and sisters, invite someone to Jesus the Christ.
