My Friends,
I greet you in the only name that matters, Jesus Christ! Even though things may look dreary and bleak, He is our bright light that shines each day. As I sit and ponder about what the Lord wants me to share with you this Sunday evening, I am heedful that I share what He has placed in my heart and not my thoughts or ideas.
Interestingly, I have begun to write message after message and believe that it is what God wants me to say through this publication on this particular date. In addition, I have turned the pages in the Bible, page after page, and thought as I read, “This must be what God wants me to say.” Surprisingly, the words would not come to complete these messages.
With this in mind, have you ever been at a loss of words and you really did not know what to say to people who have endured hardships, disappointments, or experiences of depression? Well, welcome to my moment. I really do not know what to say or pen to hurting hearts. So, as always, I know that the Holy Spirt knows. Therefore, as this message goes forth, I pray that it reaches the hearts that it is intended for; and that individual hearts are encouraged as He has encouraged me.
What do you say to hurting hearts?
Dear hurting hearts, the Bible teaches us to “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths (Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV). When you do not know where the next meal or how the next house mortgage will be paid, TRUST God. Although life has thrown discouragements, disappointments, displeasures, heartaches, etc., in your path, TRUST God in the midst of it all. You may have shed tears and become extremely disheartened because of life’s situations; nonetheless, Jesus sees every tear, and He truly cares for you.
What do you say to hurting hearts? God sent His ONLY begotten Son, Jesus, to take care of your spiritual and physical needs. In fact, Jesus died; then, rose from the dead for you and me. Afterwards, He ascended to heaven to be with our Father and later sent His Spirit to live in us. So, since He is living in your heart, hold on to Him and let Him reign and rule during these trying times. Scripture reminds us, “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed” (Psalm 34:18 NIV).
