The legendary Stonewall Hunter, Sr., the late pastor of the Truevine Baptist Church, left big shoes to fill when he died over two decades ago in a train accident, but this week the congregation welcomed his son, Stonewall Hunter, Jr. as its new pastor.
The congregation has been prayerfully searching for a pastor for the last year, after the resignation of its last pastor.
The Lord placed it on the heart of the congregation after much prayer and deliberation to accept Rev. Stonewall Hunter, Jr. as the new pastor of the flock.
He bears a resemblance and height of his father, but Reverend Hunter will not try to fill his father’s shoes. The congregation is counting on him to blaze his own trail and fill his own shoes. “He can really bring the word, that’s what I like about him. He is truly a man of God,” said one Truevine member who was bubbling with excitement during the welcoming program.
The late Reverend Hunter was well known and respected in the church community and a vice-president of the B.B. and O. Baptist Association during his tenure at Truevine.
The Reverend Hunter, Jr. was welcomed in a welcoming event this week and will be officially installed in coming weeks.
