To eat and not be satisfied!

Pray: “Lord, let this message help us today.”

Dear Hearts,

I greet you in the only name that matters-that name is Jesus, our Savior, our redeemer.
Have you ever eaten a meal, and it appeared that you were still hungry? In fact, you noticed that a huge craving for ice cream or some other kind of dessert was desired to quench the hunger that resided in your body. You knew that there was something else that you would like to eat but you just could not put your finger on it? What a luxury God has given us to be able to eat and be satisfied!
In Leviticus, chapter 26, God issued His standard of doing things as a ceremonial blessing to Him. He was very intentional about the lives and lifestyles of the people of Israel. He established decrees between Himself and the Israelites through Moses (Lev. 26:46). However, in issuing punishment for their disobedience, He said, “If you will not listen to me and carry out all these commands, and if you reject my decrees and abhor (detest) my laws and fail to carry out all my commands and so violate my covenant, then I will do this to you…To name one, ”When I cut off your supply of bread, ten women will be able to bake your bread in one oven, and they will dole out the bread by weight. You will eat, but you will not be satisfied”(Lev. 26:14-43).

What would we do if God cut off or shorten the supply of our nation’s “Bread” because of willful disobedience and unrepentant sin? Would this make us turn from corruptness, dishonesty, and immorality which vex our country so deeply? Interestingly, we must understand that God could, if He so desire, cut off our supply of food and other comforts that He has blessed us to obtain. Understanding that His sovereignty, dominion, and power give Him the authority to do whatever it is He wants to do, we must obey Him.

As we look at our topic for this message, “To Eat and not be satisfied”, it hinges on the fact that we must obey the commands of God and follow His direction. If we choose to do things “our way”, like the Israelites, He may put us in the position where there is not enough bread to satisfy anyone.
In essence, our punishment for the nation’s disobedience is that we will eat, but we will not be satisfied. Pray for our nation to follow the commands of God for our continuation “to eat and be satisfied.”
