Scripture: But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere (James 3:17-18 NIV).
Dear Friends,
Suicide, depression, hopelessness, sadness, despair, etc., are running rapid in the lives of Christians. Perhaps you have been or are in a place where you need something or somebody to bring happiness to your heart. God gave me an article to pen some years ago titled, “Sometimes the encourager needs encouraging” (2018). In this article, it highlights the aspect of others saying encouraging words to those who pour out so much to individuals while leaving them literally empty. What do you do when sadness and hopelessness seep into your lives? So much so that you begin to wear the look of the world who has no hope at all. Where do you go when you are troubled? To whom do you run?
Allow me to encourage all who read this message to “Stay in the Word of God”. When you are distressed and do not know what direction to go, remember what the Psalmist says, “Thy word is a Lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” (Psalm 119:105). He will lead and guide you, if you lean, depend and trust in Him.
So many things have harvested our attention until time with God has been rushed. In addition, some may not spend time in the Word of God at all. Interestingly, as soon as we stray away from our study habits and lean toward other busy works, our minds become so cloudy and disturbed until we begin to search for something to provide a peace of mind.
My friends, please save yourselves the misery of trying to make things work out in your mind and heart without God’s Word. Our scripture reminds us that pure wisdom comes from heaven. If you want to know how to handle situations, seek the wisdom of God. God’s wisdom is pure, peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy (17-18).
When individuals stay with the Word of God, wisdom will reign in their lives. Everything you need is in the Word of God. However, it becomes problematic when persons yield to other service providers rather than indulging in the Word of God. Certainly, service providers such as mental health counselors, therapist, marriage counselors, etc., have their place in helping people overcome dilemmas; however, God’s Word is the true resource for all of our problems. Stay in His Word! God’s Holy Word! He will change your condition.
