The Louisiana State NAACP recognized the local NAACP and its president last week during the State NAACP gathering in Baton Rouge.
The Reverend Ambrose Douzart, president of the local NAACP was presented with the Emmett J. Douglas award for his leadership of the Monroe Branch, tackling tough issues and raising public consciousness.
