Services set for retired educator Jo’Ella Williams

Graveside services will be held Saturday for retired educator.

Services for Jo’Ella Crandell Williams, 93, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Richwood Memorial Cemetary.

Williams was a pioneer educator in the Monroe community who specialized in art. She taught the Monroe City Schools and was an art instructor on the faculty of the University of Louisiana.

Multi-faceted, Mrs. Williams was a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, and a “Mother” of the New Tabernacle Baptist Church.

A biblical scholar, she taught classes for young women on Christian living and was the first female Superintendent of Sunday School in a Baptist Church in the Monroe community.
