An earthquake was felt recently with news that the Saints may acquire Russell Wilson of the Seahawks. Well at least in my household where a die heart Saints fan is paired with a lukewarm Saints supporter. She did not ask about football before we jumped the broom but being banished to a different room when the Saints play was my clue something was wrong. I think when I rooted loudly for Seattle or Kansas City anytime they played the Saints was a “no no”.
I am not much of a football fan anyway but there are only three teams that I tend to follow – The Seahawks, Atlanta Falcons, and Kansas City. She has been asked if I am from Louisiana or not because her friends just could not imagine her being paired with a non-Saints zealot. She is a fan of the Saints so let me correct my description of her loyalty. Win or lose there is someone in my household that watches the game from beginning to end. I may sit for a while thru a few possessions but if I stay longer than the time it takes for Drew to throw a pass to Alvin Kamari and he does that special Kamari move in the endzone, I am bored to death. She jumps for joy and on occasion makes a strange dance move. I think it’s brought about by the Kamari move in the end zone….
So, I am in deep trouble if Shaun Payton can pull off a deal to acquire Russell. Now Russell has talked about feeling good about two other teams – Dallas and Chicago but I do not think they have the funds. But its Russell Wilson so many conference deep pockets will rule the day and make a gigantic decision that will cause a tsunami of emotions to erupt around the football universe. The emotions will swell like mine did when “Mr. Hollywood” decided to serve as head coach of the premier HBCU Jackson State University football team. He was not even there for a good month or two before someone broke into his bus followed by a break-in into his locker during a football game which he won – his first victory. “I could not even call my mom; they took my phone”. I was so upset after hearing this, about as traumatized knowing I will set next to my spouse and sing praises of the Saints if they have Russell Wilson. I will become a Saints convert for sure, though.
Am I dreaming? Russell Wilson possibly acquired by the Saints. I hope he decides to leave Seattle ONLY to accept an offer to join the Who Dat squad!!! I am a Seattle football fan but only if Russell Wilson is there. My loyalties follow the quarterback my wifes’ follows the team.
