Racism is defined as the belief, behavior, or systemic practice that asserts the superiority of one race over others, leading to prejudice, discrimination, and hatred based on skin color, ethnicity, or national origin. An individual or individuals who resemble these traits are racists. Unfortunately, in the 21st century, we are still dealing with this on the national, state, and yes… local levels.
It is a shame when those who are in power say to others, ” Get an education and training to put yourselves in the position to make substantial economic progress.” In many cases, when this occurs, people of color are still slapped in the face with racism. What will it take? Dr. Claude Anderson’ s approach to economics was to create ‘PowerNomics.’ This theory emphasizes the importance of economic and political power within the Black community, advocating for collective action to achieve economic independence and influence. This approach appears to be one to pursue. Locally, the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. The community cannot continue this trend and be prosperous.
Things have improved in certain areas but certainly not enough to be sustainable and not enough to help people to Love where we Live and Live where we Love!
