Our City, Our Community

Well… It’s that time of year again when Christmas celebrations are getting organized and ramped up.  The religious observance is celebrating Jesus’s birth; however, the secular traditions consist of gift-giving, decorating trees, a variety of meals, and of course, Santa Claus, just to name a few.  Through the years, parents have told their children that Santa Claus would be making his rounds on Christmas Eve and would only bring gifts to those who have been nice and not to those who have been naughty.

According to AI, there are cultural variations in how other countries celebrate Christmas.  Many households in Japan order KFC for Christmas.  In South Africa, there are picnics and outdoor celebrations due to the warm December weather.  In India, people decorate mango or bamboo trees instead of evergreens.  In Mexico and Spain, there are popular outdoor Nativity reenactments.

May we all remember that Jesus is the reason for the season as we continue to Love where we Live and Live where we Love!
