My only competition is me

By Rusty Potter

I wake up early every morning. I am not in completion with anyone else but myself. My goal is to be better than I was yesterday. The man in the mirror is the real competition. The sky and not my ceiling is my only limit. If you are comparing yourself to others, you will lead an unhappy life. Franklin Roosevelt said, “Comparison is the thief of joy.” No one in the world can do a better job of being you than you. Strive to be the best you can be.

Challenge yourself each day to be better than you were yesterday. We must make it our goal to outdo our past. We must allow our mistakes and past failures to refine and redesign us to improve. Remember, champions never give up. They go harder and work smarter. My only competition is me. Ernest Hemingway said, ” There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.” When you go to bed to bed tonight ask yourself, “was I better today than I was yesterday?”
